JOB DESCRIPTION

Our business is an accredited medical technology specialist and employs a team of world class engineers. The company develops and manufactures innovative and exciting medical technology products. The business is involved in a number of large projects using leading edge, ground breaking technology. Based in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne we are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer for immediate start.


We require an energetic person with good interpersonal skills, strong technical capability, an eye for detail and the ability to work as part of a team. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential in order to support the company's medical device Quality Management System (QMS) and documentation requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the engineering team, complete project design and documentation ensuring Design History File (DHF) and Technical File documentation requirements are met.
  • You will also be involved in product design, development and improvement requirements while complying with the company's Medical Device Quality System.
  • The role may involve both computer aided design and hands on inspection, assembly and test of mechanical concepts, designs and manufactured product. Project coordination as required.


Requirements 

  • We require a mechanical engineer with 3-5 years' experience who is experienced in medical device DHF and technical file documentation as well as developing low volume, complex mechanical products. 
  • Experience in precision machining, silicon molding and sheet metal fabrication desirable.


Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working within a QMS preferably ISO 13485: 2016.
  • Previous experience in a medical device development and manufacturing environment, particularly the requirements of transfer from development to manufacturing.
  • Ability to coordinate and develop the associated product lifecycle documentation (e.g. risk assessments, user requirements, validation plans and reports, BOMs, work instructions, etc.)
  • Demonstrated skills in the mechanical design of complex mechanical products and molded products
  • An understanding and working knowledge of the precision machining, plastic injection molding and sheet metal fabrication processes
  • Ability to assist with prototyping, testing and design validation
  • Proficient in the use of Solidworks and/or Inventor CAD softwareExperienced in managing medium sized projects to meet budgets and deadlines
  • Ability to work in teams with other disciplines such as electronics, software and optical designers
  • Experience in the design and development of jigs and fixtures.


Training

  • B.E. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Australia
