Building Environment & Compliance Manager

  • Annual Salary Range: $101,120 - $122,348 per annum plus superannuation
  • Tenure: Ongoing

About the Team

The Accommodation & Workplace Services Branch incorporates teams delivering services, expertise and programs for the Department of Transport across its state-wide portfolio (in the CBD, metropolitan and regional Victoria) encompassing functions such as Workplace Services, Facilities Management, Property Management, Leasing, Building and Environmental Projects, Fit-Outs, Space Management and the DoT Relocation Program.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Building & Infrastructure Program, the Building Environment & Compliance Manager will play a key role in ensuring building environmental and BCA / DDA compliance related projects are delivered to budget and quality so that the Department of Transport meets its legislative obligations in all its sites including at Depots located across the State.

The role manages two direct reports (Senior Building Environment Officer, Senior Building Compliance Officer) and encompasses delivery of a program of works, including Depot environmental remediation and Customer Service Centre BCA / DDA compliance.

About You

  • Planning and Organising: Set clearly defined objectives and priorities and operate according to the set goals, reviewing and adjusting as required. Identify processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal; establish systems and procedures to guide work and track progress; recognise actual and potential barriers and finds effective ways to deal with them.
  • Problem Solving: Seek all relevant information for problem-solving; Liaise with stakeholders; analyse issues from different perspectives and draw sound inferences from information available; identify and propose workable solutions to problems. Implement solutions, evaluate effectiveness and adjust actions as required.
  • Written Communication: Able to prepare complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; edit written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs; ensures appropriate style and formats are used.
  • Procuring and Managing: Apply understanding of government procurement and contract management to manage complex, high value contracts to time and budget; able to plan for and procure effectively and efficiently working with procurement and suppliers; Apply financial acumen to contract management and monitoring.
  • Project Management: Use project management skills to consult, liaise with and influences key stakeholders; Produce detailed project plans clearly defining objectives and actions for achieving them; Monitor performance against objectives and manage project risks and issues; Ensure project objectives are met on time and quality.
  • Stakeholder Management: Identify issues in common for one or more stakeholders and build mutually beneficial partnerships; identify and respond to stakeholder's underlying needs; uses understanding of the stakeholders' context to achieve outcomes; finds innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.
