JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is a leader in the design, manufacturing and providing of equipment solutions and service support to the manufacturing, recycling and materials handling industries. They are now seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join their professional team based in Melbourne.

As the Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for working as part of the Engineering team finalising the certification and sign off on various structurally design projects.

Candidates can come from sectors such as supply chain, process engineering, industrial, mining/metals processing and ideally materials handling and recycling. Having designed on/with the following equipment would be beneficial: structural framework, walkways/platforms, conveyors, recycling, materials handling, mining equipment etc.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Working in accordance with project scope, engage in project and risk management to coordinate the planning, work scheduling and resource management matters relating to structure projects within the team.
  • Communicating ideas quickly and effectively using a combination of sketching, CAD layouts, 3D models and working prototypes to evaluate potential solutions
  • Applying sound engineering principles to technical problems
  • Applying a comprehensive understanding of engineering design and manufacturing processes
  • Interaction with suppliers and customers to build relationships.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve designs for cost effectiveness
  • Significant experience in researching, sourcing, and selecting spare parts and components for product design cost down initiatives on a worldwide basis.

Skills & Experience

  • Civil / Structural Engineering Degree, recognised by Engineers Australia
  • 5 to 10+ years' experience in a structural design role working in an Australian based Structural Engineering position
  • Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent project and time management skills, ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Solidworks experience would be beneficial
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide a pragmatic solution
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise messages to the business and external stakeholders
  • An innovative thinker
