Australia - Queensland, Cairns

Job Summary

The AECOM Cairns office has successfully delivered a wide range of projects for over the last 30 years including some of the largest and most complex transport planning projects outside of South East Queensland. Our skillset extends across all phases of the design process (i.e. strategic planning, design development, detailed design and documentation, as well as construction phase support), and we work across a very large geographical area that includes remote sites such as Cape York Peninsula and the Torres Straits.

AECOM's Cairns office has an opportunity for a Civil Designer to join our team. This role will see you working as part of our highly experienced team where you will apply your design drafting and technical design skills to produce engineering drawings and documentation for a range of different projects, including Cairns Ring Road and other large-scale State Government projects.

You will actively participate in, and contribute to, all technical aspects of the design process, applying your high attention to detail in the preparation of the project drawings and documentation.

This role will give you the opportunity to work with our lead designers, project engineers and project managers to further develop your technical and project management skills.

AECOM strongly supports career development across our design team. Being part of our close-knit Far North Queensland office, whilst being connected with a national team of designers, will give you exposure to a range of project and technical expertise, facilitating mentorship and coaching.

Minimum Requirements

  • Recognised qualification (eg. Associate Degree, Bachelor of Engineering Technology, or equivalent);
  • Proven ability to lead the development of simple-to-moderate design projects and work independently as a lead designer;
  • Capability in computer design package AutoCAD and 12D;
  • Demonstrated experience in a combination of Civil/Transport works, including TMR experience;
  • Career driven and passionate about delivery of above-expected outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management experience will be highly regarded.
