Clough has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Waitsia Stage 2 development in the northern Perth Basin, near the town of Dongara approximately 350km north of Perth and 65km south of Geraldton in Western Australia. The Waitsia Stage 2 project includes a new 250 TJ/day gas processing plant with a 20-year life-cycle that will convey gas via the nearby Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline. Clough currently has a requirement for a highly experienced Senior Pipeline Engineer to join the project working in our Perth office.

Reporting to the Chief Mechanical/Piping Engineer, the Senior Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for design calculations, drawings, specifications and technical review of the works as well as working closely with the Lead Mechanical/Piping Engineer, Principal Mechanical/Piping Engineer and Senior Mechanical/Piping Engineers to ensure timely, cost effective and fit for purpose engineering.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Accountable for performance and delivery of pipeline engineering services to support project outcomes against agreed project budgets and schedules.
  • Manage and cooperate the design effort of a team to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
  • Preparation of equipment specifications and scopes of work for procurement and contracting.
  • Commercial awareness to ensure economic and safe selection of equipment.
  • Liaise with project schedulers, expeditors and QA/QC staff.
  • Preparation/checking of design calculations as required to ensure design is adequate, e.g. pipeline stability, bend analysis.

You should possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical engineering coupled with a current Professional Membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Extensive Australian experience in pipeline design including concept development, FEED and detail design phases within pipeline fabrication, construction, and commissioning.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements in Western Australia with In-depth / working knowledge of AS2885, APGA PE CoP and other relevant Australian acts, regulations, standards and codes related to the pipeline industry.
  • Understanding of Low Frequency Induction (LFI) and Earth Potential Rise (EPR) studies in any sections in proximity to electric power transmission or distribution lines.
  • Understanding of geotechnical and hydrological studies at designated wetland areas along the route to determine the safe depth of burial in these areas.
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst multitasking under time pressures and deadlines.
