Vestas is currently seeking a qualified Senior Electrical Engineer (Protection) to ensure the primary and secondary electrical design elements of its construction projects are delivered in accordance with contract requirements and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a technical team of site-based engineers on multiple projects across Australia/New Zealand performing all people manager’s responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance of the team engineering activities are aligned with Vestas Standard operating procedures. 
  • Support the review of substation and electrical reticulation design drawings and documentation against contractual obligations, industry standards, safety compliance and best practice. 
  • Support the review of Inspection and test planning of electrical components and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate design interfaces with Site Civil Engineers and other offsite discipline leads
  • Coordinate and participate in Safety in Design Reviews and Project risk workshops 
  • Reporting on status of Design and QA/QC submissions and other engineering deliverables.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical queries, requests for information variations and payment claims are assessed in a timely manner.
  • Participate in engineering investigations and contribute to the development of improved department controls and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Post Graduate or Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • CPEng – Chartered Professional Engineer as granted by Engineers Australia. 

Competencies:

  • Management of direct-reports, contractors and designers in an off-site, office environment.
  • Review of electrical and protection design using practical design management techniques.
  • Experience with Primary substation design highly valued
  • Experience with secondary and LV, protection design advantageous
  • Experience in doing Negotiation with major stakeholders, both clients/contractors
  • Ability to operate within a high-pressure environment
  • Experience in construction of Wind farms highly valued.
  • Advanced use of MS Office. 
  • Experience with using document control systems highly valued (E.g. Team binder
  • Commercial and Risk Awareness
