Chameleon AMLS is an innovative advanced manufacturing company producing high-quality products including but not limited to designing and building ute trays, canopy’s and trailers for the Australian adventuring enthusiast.
Who we are looking for
Our continued growth has created the need for an experienced and established Mechanical Engineer/ Industrial Designer (Inventor). This role works closely with all functions within the business to understand design briefs and create solutions that are suitable for effective manufacture that result in satisfied, repeat customers.
The successful candidate will hold Engineering/ Industrial Design qualifications and be able to demonstrate how they have successfully deployed these skills in a similar business over a period of years.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult effectively with marketing, sales and production teams in relation to design requirements and effectively resolve design learnings to meet agreed outcomes
- Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure continual improvement both in product and process
- Provide detailed and accurate feedback to sales and production teams so budgets and timelines can be agreed and achieved
- Ensure concepts are aligned to requirements through the production of detailed sketches, models, renderings and sample designs
- Accurately test product designs using models, prototypes, specialist computer software and computer-aided design technology
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in parametric 3D modelling - experience with Inventor highly desirable
- Experience with parametric sheet metal design
- Experience with any of following software desirable – Solidworks, Solid Edge, NX or Fusion
- Exposure to current generation sheet metal tooling
- Exposure to current generation member processing machine tooling
- Ability to think mathematically and logically
- Ability to detail from a manufacturing and fabricating perspective
- Strong understanding of the item and variable relationship hierarchy
- Strong written and verbal communications
- Innovative and detail orientated
- Willingness to work collaboratively in a high-performing team environment
- Highly organised
- Enjoy problem-solving
