About the role


This position is responsible for all aspects of designing commercial scale solar PV and Battery installations. The main duties include preparing and delivering drawings, plans and cost estimates for solar construction projects.

The role is based in Cockburn Central, WA but some travel maybe be required depending on project locations.

Key responsibilities

· Interpreting plans, regulations and codes of practice

· Preparing preliminary sketches, working drawings and specifications

· Performing routine computations and plotting preliminary data

· Preparing, editing and revising plans, maps, charts and drawings

· Preparing electrical designs including single line diagrams, schematic diagrams and electrical equipment layouts.

· Maintaining project drawings, documentation and records in accurate and organised manner ensuring completeness and accuracy of all data in accordance with company quality systems and standards.

· Providing key technical expertise across a broad range of commercial renewable energy projects and contributing to the ongoing productivity and performance of the team by offering assistance and guidance to other team members on technical and procedural matters as required.

· Assisting Construction Managers, Architects and Surveyors in planning and organisation

· Coordinating works programs and managing project deliverables/drawings for the full project lifecycle.

· Calculating costs and estimating time scales for solar projects

· Completing applications to Western Power, technical requests and STC requirements as required

· Proactively collaborate with appropriate team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables

· Competently interpret and communicate technical information of a complex nature

· Managing the preparation of operations and maintenance manuals for installed systems

· Ensuring that design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client

Skills and experience

Experience and Knowledge required

· A depth of Solar PV modelling experience across a range of software packages.

· Experience with large commercial scale renewable energy projects with a strong comprehension of DC design & layout (cabling sizing, routing and inverters etc) and capability with AutoCAD and MicroStation to create single line diagrams.

· An understanding of AC design and how it affects energy performance will be highly regarded.

· Knowledge of the standards and procedures for design, construction, testing and commissioning for large scale solar projects.

· Knowledge of the principles, practices, operations, services and activities of Electrical engineering programs.

· Knowledge of safety legislation, environmental policy, processes and practices for large scale solar projects.

· Knowledge of the principles and practices of construction management, risk management and project scheduling.

· 3D Modelling experience is essential.

Skills and Qualifications required

· A relevant qualification in engineering or drafting

· Proven experience working in a similar role with renewable energy experience

· Familiar with relevant Australian Standards and specifications

· Exposure to commercial and residential solar design and battery storage

· Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and self-prioritise

· Relevant knowledge of MicroStation and computer aided engineering and design


Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per annum
