ROLE DESCRIPTION

An opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to join our team and undertake a Certificate III in Marine Craft Construction.


Based in O'Connor Western Australia, Fibrelite Boats performs a diverse range of repairs, modifications, and refits to fibreglass, composite, and timber boats. Fibrelite repairs and maintains all classes of boats from small sailing dinghies to luxury motor yachts. The tasks undertaken are extremely varied and often technically challenging.


With a strong base in the WA marine industry, we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and delivering results beyond our client’s expectations.


Job Description:


The successful candidate will perform a range of tasks on recreational and commercial vessels in our workshop and at marinas under the supervision of qualified tradesmen. You will learn how to manage and perform a range of boat repairs and maintenance tasks; from minor gel coat chips to major structural repairs, modifications, and repairs to the vessels operating systems.


The position is permanent and long term. A generous remuneration package will be negotiated.


About you:

  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in boats
  • Enjoys making things and figuring out how things work.
  • Is committed to developing a range of skills and producing high-quality work.
  • Has a commitment to finishing what is undertaken.
  • Has an ability to listen carefully and follow instructions and processes.
  • Has an excellent work ethic.
  • Is very competent at a basic, practical level in mathematics and English – both spoken and written.
  • Is prepared to attend TAFE for either day or block release
  • Is prepared to obtain a manual- driver’s license if not holding one.
  • Is prepared to learn to swim if you cannot already.
  • Is prepared to undertake random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Is prepared to obtain a Police Clearance.
  • Is prepared to work very hard to complete a very demanding, but rewarding, apprenticeship.
