The Maintenance Delivery Group are the frontline workforce that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure Hunter Water's essential services are provided to our customers and community in a safe, compliant, effective and efficient manner. As the Civil Maintenance Field Supervisor you will be primarily responsible for leading the civil workforce to deliver these services as a key member of the Maintenance Delivery Leadership Team. This role requires you to be a collaborative and resilient leader, committed to driving a culture of safety and high performance and committed to delivering a high standard of customer service.

Due to the 24/7 nature of Civil Maintenance operations this role includes the responsibility to participate in a rotational roster (1 in 5) providing management coverage after hours and during weekends, public holidays or Hunter Water shutdown periods. The Field Supervisor must also be willing and able to undertake flexible hours to ensure management coverage of the late start on call crews and perform incident and emergency management duties as required during or after business hours. This role offers a permanent contract and a base salary of up to $140,229 per annum plus superannuation contributions of 9.5%. This role is also eligible to access a range of other attractive employee benefits as per Hunter Water policies including access to a tool of the trade vehicle and access to annual performance bonus payments.

To be considered for this role you must be able to address the following essential selection criteria:

  • Secondary School Qualifications (Year 10 minimum) or equivalent
  • Unrestricted Class C Drivers licence
  • More than 5 years’ experience in related maintenance management positions
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of water, wastewater and stormwater systems
  • Substantial knowledge and experience in the repair/maintenance of water, wastewater and stormwater assets (or related fields) with supervisory team leader experience
  • Proven ability to effectively lead teams (including contractors) and apply situational and values based leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage challenges and changing priorities whilst delivering to team and corporate deadlines
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and influence a diverse range of stakeholders with strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to lead the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to use a range of technology platforms including MS Office, ERPs and online scheduling and work management systems
  • Ability to produce documentation including work instructions, standards, procedures and reports

The following skills and experience are not essential but will be highly regarded in the shortlisting process:

  • Cert IV in Leadership & Management or equivalent leadership/management training
  • Trade Qualifications or equivalent
  • Experience in the water industry and/or with a distributed network of assets
  • Competency in any of the following: RAM, RCM, TQM, ILM, RCA, FMECA, 6 Sigma, Lean
