Role Details

Gold Fields - Granny Smith is currently seeking Graduate Mining Engineer to join their Mining Department.

We support our graduates with a structured program that includes providing practical underground experience, a pre-requisite to

First Class Mine Managers certificate.

This role is offered on an 8 day on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of Gold Fields and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times
  • Participate with planning, production, and ventilation engineering employees and contractors to carry out the daily work plan and ensure activities are consistently aligned with meeting operational targets and safely monitoring these
  • Secure the success of the mine through the achievement of planned production and safety targets by ensuring that work practices are within an annual work plan developed in collaboration with the Senior Production Engineer or Direct Supervisor
  • Exposure and experience to new underground mining technology and modernisation processes
  • Work with the mining team to ensure a clear understanding and direction of objectives by participating in weekly mine production planning meetings, ensuring deliverables are understood including field directions and work instructions
  • Ensure the business can make informed decisions by assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of reporting information (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually) for managing target delivery, safety, identifying and planning short term extraction strategies, critical path, and high exposure areas
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement by contributing to the optimisation of systems, processes, and practices, regularly reviewing and identifying new opportunities, developing these on instruction
  • Comply with and undertake additional/alternative responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Senior Production Engineer

Key factors to your success include:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Underground/surface engineering exposure to any - long hole drilling, blasting, ventilation, projects, planning, and scheduling - preferably in gold
  • Strong interest in innovation and technology
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and mining software such as Vulcan, Deswik, EPS, and Datamine
