Position: Senior Tailings Engineer
Work Location: Fortescue Centre, East Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
The role of the Senior Tailings Engineer is to provide technical guidance in tailings management and dams for all current operations and future development projects. The position will provide expert technical guidance in tailings management strategies and implement best practice design in alignment with regulatory frameworks, management, auditing, decommissioning and closure. The role will operate across a range of mine planning and development horizons including strategic project assessment and development.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Development, implementation and management of strategic plans and corporate governance standards associated with tailings management.
- Support and implementation of the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management.
- Undertake tailings studies across various mine planning horizons from active operations to strategic project development.
- Provide support to active operations in the management of active tailings storage facilities.
- Provide technical support and collaboration with construction and consulting teams throughout TSF construction periods.
- Provide technical advice and consultation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide design and reporting for approvals and regulatory commitments.
- Assess emerging global technologies in tailings management
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with other business units and external parties, contribute to knowledge building and awareness, influence decision making regarding tailings management
- A degree or an equivalent tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or similar.
- Experience in tailings design, operation, and management and / or TSF and earthworks construction projects
- Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated experience of communicating to a variety of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of mine planning and approval processes.
- Competent use of GIS packages for data manipulation and presentation
- Strong data management and manipulation skills are essential.
- Strong team skills and willingness to spend short durations on site.
