JOB DESCRIPTION

The Archdiocese of Brisbane covers the region from the NSW border to Hervey Bay and as far west as Kingaroy. Within the region there are 100 parishes, a range of Catholic community-based agencies and various professional offices and pastoral ministries. Centacare is the social services arm of the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane and has been operating in South East Queensland for over 50 years. With more than 3500 employees working across a range of community services, we value our employees and believe they are the heart of our organisation.

The Work Health and Safety (WHS) team currently consists of 7 WHS Advisors and 2 Injury Management Advisors supporting both Archdiocese and Centacare agencies in meeting their WHS obligations. Due to an internal transfer we are currently seeking applications for a WHS Advisor position to provide advice, support and build capability within the Parish and Archdiocese Ministry and Service agencies. Areas of responsibility will include:

  • Conduct Compliance Audits of Work Health and Safety Management System under direction from the WHS Director
  • Be the first point of contact for the provision of advice and support to Archdiocese Ministries and Services and Parish employees on WHS matters
  • Coordination of risk identification, assessment and solutions to control risk for AMS and Parishes, including training
  • Investigate WHS incidents
  • Produce timely and accurate reports for senior stakeholders
  • Identify and develop strategies to address emerging injury / incident trends
  • Provide WHS support for all building / maintenance projects as required
The successful candidate will require:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in WHS
  • Qualifications in lead audits would be desirable
  • Current QLD driver’s licence
  • 3 plus years previous experience in a similar WHS and/or auditing position ideally in a multi-site organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of WHS legislation
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to influence capability at all stakeholder levels
  • Experience in not-for-profit organisations is desirable
  • Understanding of the Catholic church values and teachings
This is a permanent full-time position of 37.5 hours per week and remuneration will reflect the experience of the successful candidate.
