Our client is a well-known and established specialised global equipment manufacturer in the scientific equipment and technology sector. Their approach to clients, service, R&D and changing market conditions has given them a real market advantage. Currently they are looking to employ a QHS Manager for their Sydney offices
The Opportunity
You will be responsible for all the Quality and Health & Safety across Australia and will work to maintain existing and achieve new compliance standards & company requirements. You will work to achieve ongoing business and site compliance, including obtaining & maintaining required permits and certificates and lead the development of the global Occupational Health Program in Australia. You will manage and coordinate certifications for ISO standards (9001, 45001 and more) and review existing QHS site systems for the development of a national standardisation. Other responsibilities may include:
- Manage internal ISO certification audits and internal safety inspections.
- Develop &/or maintain ‘Emergency Preparedness’ and for site-specific evacuation plans.
- Manage ‘Disaster Recovery’ site plans.
- Provide and coordinate (1) customer &/or external quality and safety audits/inspections, and (2) customer support/field service, QHS, Corporate Social Responsibility and Injury Rate monitoring processes support.
- Maintain inventory of quality and safety related products at all sites.
- Chemical management and HAZMAT control.
- Manage training programs including: accident prevention and protection, investigation when applicable, OH&S (safe lifting Right to Know, PPE selection, basic first aid, CPR and AED).
- Onboarding of new personal relating to WHS.
- Manage and maintain the internal (Safety Incident Register) and external safety record system.
- QHS committee Chairperson and Coordinator.
- Conducts risk assessments of company facilities and recommends corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established standards.
- 3-5+ years Occupational Health & Safety) OH&S or Work Health Safety (WHS) experience.
- Strong communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills a must!
- Strong interpersonal skills, diplomatic and assertive!
- Able to travel occasionally to Perth and other customer client sites
- Qualifications in WHS, OHS (or related) preferred (not essential)
- Industry experience in any engineering, manufacturing or any technical / science related industry (or equivalent) is desirable (not essential)
- ISO audit and certification experience
- The ability to work independently & prioritize a must
