About the role
The Trades Assistant will be responsible for carrying out, and assisting with, efficient and cost-effective maintenance, repairs and minor new work within the West Moreton Health Service District.
Key responsibilities of the role are:
- Assist Trades staff and other Infrastructure and Assets supervisory personnel in the performance of scheduled and corrective maintenance and accommodation management tasks.
- Assist with office relocations, including lifting of office and household furniture, whitegoods, boxes and construction waste.
- Organise and complete allocated tasks including ensuring availability of materials, meeting deadlines and ensuring that required standards are met.
- Collection and delivery of construction materials.
- Undertake builders cleans following construction works and cleaning workshops, workshop compounds and plant rooms.
- Provide basic advice to the Infrastructure and Assets management team and other appropriate personnel on issues relating to the services including efficiency, quality and assisting in the preparation of quotations.
- Ensure that quality and effective work practices exist in accordance with codes, regulations and facility policies. Ensure work is reported using the standard reporting methodology and recording of facility documents.
- Undertake all related duties within the area of expertise and statutory legal obligations.
- Actively contribute to maintaining a safe workplace that values the health and safety of co-workers, clients and visitors.
- Actively contribute to developing and maintaining a culture where staff are vigilant to risks to themselves, their co-workers, clients and visitors (including health and safety, business and operational risks).
- Actively participate in the Health Service 1:1 conversation process.
About you
The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise works, projects and timeframes.
- Demonstrated ability to make responsible and accurate recommendations in relation to maintenance work.
- Demonstrated ability to produce an effective work output in terms of both quality and quantity without supervision.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team or individually, interacting, communicating and negotiating effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
