We are seeking a self-motivated, reliable Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our company based in Laverton North VIC
Responsibilities of this role include:
- Preparing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work;
- Selecting tools and equipment;
- Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools;
- Assisting Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists in the design of mechanical equipment and plant;
- Estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements;
- Program and install machines and equipment;
- Identify faults in machines and equipment;
- Communicate with suppliers to order replacement parts for the machines and equipment;
- Repair equipment , and replace faulty parts of the equipment;
- Conduct testing programs;
- Organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plants;
- Liaise with technicians, system designers, and office staff.
- Ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions
- Determining, implementing and monitoring engineering strategies, policies and plans. establishing project schedules and budgets;
- Ensuring the works of other Mechanical Engineering Technicians meet the engineering standards of quality; observing costs , safety, timeliness and performance
- Interpreting plans, drawings and specifications, and providing advice on engineering methods and procedures to achieve construction and production requirements to factory works and other Mechanical Engineering Technicians
- Ensuring the finished products conformity with specifications and plans, and with laws, regulations and safety standards
- Overseeing maintenance requirements to optimise efficiency
- Liaising with marketing, research and manufacturing managers regarding engineering aspects of new construction and product design
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Minimum 2 years experience in the plastic industry
- Experience with Valves, hydraulics, conveyors, Pneumatics, air cylinders, welding, fabrication
- A strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork
- Welding skills would be advantageous
- Good troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Carrying out preventative and breakdown maintenance on all machinery
- Sound problem solving and fault-finding skills
