About the Role
We are seeking a Quantity Surveyors with a high level of expertise, who possess a strong understanding of the construction sector, including large scale infrastructural and residential projects.
You will be expected to compile accurate and timely cost advice throughout the tendering, planning construction and completion phases of infrastructure or building project. Supporting construction management, this role will perform various functions including quantity surveying, estimating, and cost planning and monitoring, when necessary, also support commercial and financial reporting whilst with a key focus on proactively maximising value for money.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesYour experience as a Quantity Survey will be accountable for:
- Estimating and monitoring construction costs from the tender stage to the completion stage of a project.
- Preparing initial cost plan and developing project budgets based on quantities and historical project costs to assist in budgetary control.
- Analysing and bench-marking construction costs to demonstrate cost management.
- Implementing the design cost planning procedure, monitoring any changes to designs and evaluating relative effects on cost, timely valuating and negotiating design and construction variations.
- Fully understanding of architectural and engineering drawings and specifications to apply life cycle costing techniques to the management of costs.
- Reviewing drawings, plans, schedules and specifications to accurately prepare tender documents.
- Preparing and timely updating project revenues and expenditures schedules and to form a cash flow.
- Preparing depreciation schedules and allocating project assets based on Company Policies.
- Analysing and managing risks associated with QS function.
- Implementing construction contract administration.
- Advising on the most economical way of achieving required outcomes and identifying savings to offset essential additions.
- Determining materials and quality standards, and drafting /interpreting specifications, drawings, plans and procedures to Bill of Quantities.
- Assisting in designing the physical aspects of transportation systems in terms of its cost and quantity,such as highways, railroads, urban transit, air transportation, logistical supply systems and their terminals.
- Assisting in organising and directing site labour and delivery, and establishing detailed programs to coordinate on-site activities.
To be considered for the role applicants would need to demonstrate the following experience and skills:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
- Advanced skills in Engineering software packages, high level of use of MS Office software
- Understanding of legal obligations as applicable to the company’s business environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, with a high level of people management skills.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic outlook.
- Ability to perform under pressure and timely restrictions.
- Proven work experience on large international projects with people from different background is preferred.
- Ability to write clearly and fluently about technical subjects, master-plan and feasibility report.
- Experience in both Infrastructure and Building construction projects would be highly advantageous.
- Bilingual in English and Chinese would be a great advantage.
