The Opportunity

BDA is seeking competent, qualified, experienced and motivated team members as we establish a significant CH-47F (Chinook) Maintenance and Logistics Support program in Australia during 2020/2021, supporting a new BDA customer. We are seeking Aircraft Maintenance Engineers - Avionics and Mechanical to join this new team located at the Army Aviation Centre Oakey, Queensland.

To establish this new team, BDA will recruit a range of technical (maintenance & engineering), program management and supply support skill sets. All candidates will be assessed for their relevant qualifications and experience. Equally important, candidates will be assessed on their cultural fit and their alignment with Boeing values.

Some members of this newly established team will be required to support deployed operations within Australia for periods of 4 weeks or more each year. For this role, the applicant may also be required to work day shift, afternoon shift and night shift hours during the week as well as reasonable hours of overtime to ensure the customer's operational outcomes are achieved on any given day.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills, or equivalent trade qualification
  • Minimum 5 years' aviation experience in maintenance of aircraft and has at least 12 months' experience as a fully qualified tradesperson on Aircraft type (or for workshop maintenance, at least 12 months' experience on relevant aeronautical product preferably on a/c type or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative, prioritise and work to tight timeframes with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated success in the development of effective working relationships within a complex organisational structure to meet team, business unit and organisational goals
  • Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of aviation Quality Assurance (QA) procedures, aircraft maintenance / modification operating procedures and documentation
  • Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures
  • Demonstrated experience in using Technical Manuals / Publications in the repair of Aeronautical product and systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical directives
  • A positive attitude towards Environmental Health & Safety (ISO14001 principles) in the workplace
  • Demonstrated ability to apply well developed problem solving skills to a variety of technical issues / problems
  • Have exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to work in a dynamic, multi-team environment
  • Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet Defence security requirements, and have the ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 security clearance

Highly Desirable Experience/Qualifications

(One or more of the below desirable criteria preferred, but not essential)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft maintenance documentation within the ADF regulatory environment
  • Holds a Military Aircraft Maintenance Licence (MAML)
  • Previous experience in a Defence Military Aerospace environment
  • Previous experience on aircraft type
  • Previous experience using Computer-Based Aviation Maintenance Management Systems
  • Previous experience as a Progressive Maintenance Quality Inspector within an aircraft maintenance environment
  • Prior Supervisory or Leadership development training
  • Experience in the use of Boeing business tools (e.g. BBMS, Ematrix, BINs, ERP)
  • Well-developed MS Office & Desktop application skills
  • Accredited Work Place Assessor (or demonstrate the capability in obtaining this accreditation)
  • Valid open drivers licence
