JOB DESCRIPTION
The role:
The Interior Designer will work with the team and clients to plan, design, detail and advise on custom interior schemes for residential dwellings.
Key Responsibilities
- Works with clients to develop a design brief including objectives and constraints
- Develops floor plan layouts utilising space planning techniques
- Prepares design schemes including concept boards, sketches, computer generated drawings and illustrations as well as flat lay and other suitable methods to communicate design concepts
- Investigate and specify design and product solutions including suitability, pricing and availability. Secure samples, product specifications and build supplier relationships.
- Designs and documents joinery including layout, materials, visual style
- Prepares detailed documentation of projects including drawings, specifications and visual tools
- Provides technical expertise and advice on projects to clients
- Works to meet project budget constraints including requesting and comparing quotes
- Liaises with architects, engineers, builders, owners, suppliers, trades & contractors as required
- Provides technical expertise and advice on projects and potential projects to team members including external treatments, interior design and floorplan layout options
- Design and specify external finishes
- Project manage work onsite with trades and site supervisor to direct design intent and implementation outcomes
- Develop and maintain the company design library and studio
- Contract documentation preparation including drawings, specifications, quotations
- Assist in preparing variations and issuing purchase orders
Key Capabilities
Mandatory Specialist Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years custom residential interior design experience with an interior design firm and/or a custom building company
- Tertiary level Interior Design Qualification
- Extensive knowledge and experience in using:
- AutoCad – ability to produce full working drawings
- Revit
- Sketch Up
- Hand sketching and manual drafting expertise
- Experience working onsite with trades and site supervisors
- Extensive knowledge and experience with construction methodology and terminology
- Ability to read & interpret architectural & engineering drawings, specifications and technical brochures
General Knowledge and Skills
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication and written skills and the ability to present confidently to a range of audiences
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and meet timelines.
- Production of documentation and report writing
- Understanding of OHS obligations and implementation
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to manage and organise work and self in a systematic, accurate and timely manner
- Information Technology skills in terms of proficient use of major programs and packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)

What’s on offer?
This is a full-time role. Attractive remuneration in the range of $55,000 - $65,000 will be offered commensurate with your skills and experience.
