The role:
We are seeking an WHS Advisor to join the HR team at our Port Melbourne office.
This role will see you developing, implementing and reviewing workplace health and safety strategies, systems, policies and procedures. You will champion safe work practices and be driving WHS initiatives to mitigate risk whilst leading WHS incident investigations, risk assessment and audits across the business. This role is also responsible for workplace health and safety of our people including all Workcover claims and return to work programs.
You will be supported by an Executive and Management team that ensures that safety is our number 1 priority and strives for a zero harm target.

The role:
We are seeking an WHS Advisor to join the HR team at our Port Melbourne office.
This role will see you developing, implementing and reviewing workplace health and safety strategies, systems, policies and procedures. You will champion safe work practices and be driving WHS initiatives to mitigate risk whilst leading WHS incident investigations, risk assessment and audits across the business. This role is also responsible for workplace health and safety of our people including all Workcover claims and return to work programs.

Key responsibilities
- Implement and manage WHS Policies and Procedures and oversee the health and safety aspects of all employees and contractors
- Use a collaborative approach with staff, managers, contractors and external providers to ensure the development and delivery of best practice health and safety solutions
- Conduct regular planned and unplanned workplace inspections and safety audits
- Conduct investigations into incidents and liaise with external bodies to implement best practices solutions
- Monitor and review contractor safety inductions
- Identify gaps and assist with the development of health and safety training materials and standard operating procedures
- Manage the WHS committee meetings
- Monitor the organisation’s compliance with WHS policies, legislative requirements
- Liaise with WHS workgroup representatives in matters relating to audits, committee meetings, training, etc.
- Coordinate injury management and Return to Work requirements
- Prepare and distribute relevant safety communications to staff
- Report monthly to key stakeholders on all safety metrics
To be successful in the role you will have:
- A strong background in WHS and knowledge of WHS legislation
- Relevant WHS qualification
- Worked in warehousing or been around heavy lifting environment or worked in WHS for a retail environment
- Worked in best practice systems for health and safety of employees
- Excellent written skills with proven ability to investigate, write reports and proposals
- The ability to negotiate a solution to a problem
- Strong commercial acumen with a sound understanding of financial impact of business decisions relating to OHS
- The ability to multitask and project plan
