WHS TEAM LEADER

  • Full time, permanent role
  • Salary c.$100,000+, plus 9.5% superannuation and benefits

Come and join our proactive Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) team at Manningham Council. Leading a small team you will be the subject matter expert who will develop and promote our WHS culture. You will need to be a self-starter and be able to manage competing priorities in a complex environment across our range of Council services.

About the role

The WHS Team Leader is the subject matter expert who is responsible for leading a small team to develop and implement the Workplace Health and Safety strategy and culture across Council. This includes development and implementation of the WHS safety system (RMSS), providing expert advice and support to stakeholders, both directly and through the management of your team. The usual WHS activities are part of this role including policy writing and the application of procedures relating to incidents, near misses, hazards and safety audits. Also safety data reporting and overseeing the injury management process.

About you

You are passionate about Workplace Health and Safety and can identify and implement innovative solutions in a complex environment. You will possess strong communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills which you will use daily in building constructive relationships with a diverse range of internal stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

  • Preferably a tertiary qualification in Work, Health and Safety and substantial experience delivering contemporary and practical workplace health and safety solutions and providing expert advice.
  • A strong working knowledge of related safety legislation and Worksafe requirements
  • Experience in leading a team to high performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with a commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and competent personal organising skills to manage competing work tasks
  • Experience in managing injury management requirements, employee return to work and workers compensation
  • Demonstrated ability to promote and lead a strong WHS culture
