Reports to: Head of Architecture, Performance & Scalability

Opportunity snapshot

The Solution Architect role is part of the Architecture practice, which is responsible for all project architecture, and product architecture activities. A Solution Architect is responsible for the design, documentation and overseeing the construction of client solutions - the focus is on the successful implementation of each project. A Solution Architect is also responsible for the evolution of product architecture, and use of underlying architectural patterns within the development community

Role Responsibilities


Project responsibilities

  • Analyze and transform business, information, and technical requirements into architectural blueprints that outline solutions to achieve business objectives
  • Act as senior technical presence with clients through feasibility, proposal, design and construction phases
  • Work with disparate business and technical teams to produce optimal solution designs considering key factors such as budget, timeframe, long-term sustainability, operational efficiency, practicality, scalability, technical limitations, and criticality
  • Lead senior technical teams to further design and construct client solutions that deliver our clients’ required business outcomes in line with quality, cost and time expectations

Product architecture responsibilities

  • Identify and champion reusable assets and approaches from client projects that enhance the value of our product offerings
  • Analyze underlying technology, application architecture, and processes to ensure products are developed to provide acceptable performance, maintainability, and scalability
  • Assess the impact of potential product roadmap candidates and provide direction to ensure alignment with the overall Product and architecture vision
  • Make recommendations on the application of appropriate technology, design, and reuse considerations that support the products' overall architecture vision

Architectural community responsibilities

  • Communicate ideas and proposals, verbally and in writing to executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources in clear, concise language
  • Contribute to architectural standards and practices that increase value of team activities and deliverables
  • Develop, publish, and promote knowledge transfer on specific applications, features, patterns, or frameworks throughout the development community
  • Mentor, lead, or provide instruction to less experienced architects in researching and seeking out technical advancements, industry trends, and vendor offerings that are applicable to the line of business or product areas supported

Technology Strategy and Direction

  • Where assigned, work on specific elements on the company’s technology strategy, and ensure its alignment with the overall company strategy
  • Assess industry and in-house platforms for best solution fit balancing client and internal requirements


Professional skills and knowledge

Essential

  • Solution architecture, design and implementation experience of complex data-rich systems
  • Architecture delivery within Scaled Agile and waterfall commercial environments
  • Solutions involving modern user front-end technologies and omni-channel interactions
  • In depth experience with AngularJS (4+), Angular, Sass/CSS3, HTML5, Angular Material, Node.js, .NET4.6+, Bootstrap, MVC, Webapi2, .NET Core 3
  • Experience with implementing Single Sign On capability with OIDC Identity Providers such as Okta, Ping
  • Implementation experience with industry-leading digital platforms and tools
  • Proficient diagramming and documentation skills that concisely articulate concepts, design and solutions

Desirable

  • Experience with Microsoft Development and Deployment technologies
  • API design, integration architectures and SOA environments
  • Design and implementation of high performance systems with tier 1 enterprise non-functional requirements
  • Knowledge of common Architecture methodologies and standards
  • Experience with Content Management platforms, Episerver a bonus


Expected practical experience

Essential

  • Leadership of technology project teams to scope, design and deliver solutions meeting client requirements
  • Specialized knowledge or expertise in the digital user interaction domain (e.g. UI frameworks, analytics, communications, content management, segmentation)
  • Experience with capturing and designing for significant non-functional requirements (e.g. data, security, infrastructure, operational efficiency, high performance etc.)
  • 5+ years experience in developing and implementation of complex digital applications
  • 2+ years’ experience in commercially oriented, vendor-based Solution Architect roles within Systems Integration projects, where API and integration contracts are critical programme deliverables
  • Knowledge of Australian and/or UK Wealth Management and Superannuation
  • Experience within a software manufacturer environment across the full software development lifecycle
  • 6- 7 years Bluedoor Tech stack experience required

Desirable

  • Experience working in industries requiring complex user experience, high performance or data-rich systems
  • Experience with cloud technologies and production deployments

Relevant qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.


Other


Travel is not a key part of this role, but we work in distributed international projects. Some domestic and international travel may be required at times, depending upon phases requiring key client interaction.

The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with a diverse range of external and internal stakeholders in a matrixed environment, within a fast paced and changing environment.
