Our SEQ Network Assets business delivers infrastructure services, construction, maintenance, asset management and development across South East Queensland, stretching from Varsity Lakes in the South to Gympie in the North, from Moreton Bay in the East and inland to Rosewood in the west.

This position is located at Geebung (Sunshine) with our Footbridge team consisting of two Footbridge Carpenters and reporting to the Footbridge Maintenance Coordinator.

As a Footbridge Carpenter you will work around our stations and depots specifically with footbridges, this work is predominately steps, stairs and timber post replacement, including formwork.

You will both proactively find and be assigned defect checklists to investigate and report back findings and recommendations on rectification to the Footbridge Maintenance Co-Ordinator. When confident to do so, you will prepare work and materials list for works and in a pair conduct the maintenance or installation.

A customer focused approach is required as you will often be working in and around customers whom at times may be frustrated with the lack of usual access.

To be considered for this position you must hold a Certificate 3 in Carpentry and a current manual C class drivers licence

We are looking for a self-motivated Carpenter looking to diversify their career and is motivated to work independently. We see related experience to be with formwork, post installation, steps and decking. Solely carpentry framework experience either residential or commercial is not desired.

Hours and salary

The team currently work 9.5 hour days, 600 - 1600 with an 8 on 6 off roster – On Monday to Monday, then off Tuesday to Sunday – this roster is subject to change with business requirements. The current roster requires you to be available to work roughly 24 weekends a year.

You will always start and finish at the depot, site travel is on paid work time. Uniform and tools are supplied.

Base entry salary is $61,055 ($30.79/hr) plus an 8.5% All Purpose Allowance ($5189) plus shift penalties and up to 12.75% superannuation. Working the current roster on the entry level salary members in the team average $85,000 plus superannuation annually, this is an indicator not a guarantee. Overtime is usually available on non-rostered weekends although this must be approved and comply with our fatigue management policy.
