Job title: BI Architect / BI Solution Designer

Contract: 6 month on-going contract to work on long-term projects

Location: Brisbane City Fringe

Summary

Our client is looking for a BI Architect or Solution Designer with expertise in design for Data warehouse and business intelligence solutions including experience with secure, inter-organisation data services, complex data warehouses and analytical toolsets for end users.

Responsibilities

• Work with business stakeholders and developers to identify and document current and future requirements.
• Specify and design end to end data warehouse, data mart and reporting solutions.
• Solid understanding on Dimension Modelling & ER Modelling techniques.
• Expertise in Designing & Validating ETL systems.
• Select appropriate BI solution design standards, methods and tools, in line with the IT architecture policy and strategy.
• Review existing system designs to ensure a selection of technology and solution architectures are applied effectively.
• Manage the investigation of the data requirements, co-ordinate the data analysis and modelling activities, in order to establish and understand the data classification, information flow, logic and relationships to facilitate the design of effective data management solutions.
• Co-ordinate design activities, promoting the discipline to ensure solution consistency.
• Evaluate new services, vendors, applications and security tools, from a solution perspective and architectural fit.
• Assess the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it.
• Lead Design elaboration workshops with various vendors.
• Inform various stakeholders about risks/issues/mitigations linked to individually assigned solutions.
  
  

Technical Requirements

• Strong Data Modelling for business intelligence solutions.
• Knowledge of financial industry data, regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Strong understanding and experience with specific BI technologies including Microsoft SQL - SSIS, SSAS, SSRS.
• Strong understanding of data modelling and design concepts such as data vault, dimensional modelling, and general data modelling skills.
• Strong understanding of data integration and transformation patterns such as ETL, ELT and associated technologies.
• Extensive experience developing data solutions to store, transform and retrieve data efficiently.
• Experience working across varied project initiatives to drive alignment to data principles and standards.
• Practical data mining experience with strong SQL skills.
• Practical working with different data sources specifically SQL Server, Azure SQL, blob storage.
