JOB DESCRIPTION

Our Engineering client, a family owned and operated business who works across mining equipment with a focus on machine manufacturing, drifters and pulleys, are seeking a Graduate Draftsperson and/or a Mechanical Engineer to compliment their growing team.


The focus will be to support and develop the business, design, and production of working drawings to manufacture various mining products for their varied clients.

A typical work week is from 7 am - 4 pm Mon - Fri, 45-hours per week.
Our client produces high-quality work and expects the successful candidate to maintain the client’s reputation and image by doing the same.

The candidate must be a highly motivated and reliable individual who has good team morale and is eager to help the business grow.

The position will involve the revision, updating and redesigning of existing drawings, re-drawing existing “Paper Prints” into electronic format, and some minor ground-up design work.


On the job training will be provided, as well as opportunities for further career professional development in the business.


Requirements

The Job Requirements:

  • Liaise with Manager and Workshop Foreman to assist with the correct interpretation of drawings to allow for such components' satisfactory manufacture.
  • Amending and improving workshop drawings where needed
  • Development of lean drawing practices to be able to produce workshop drawings as efficiently as possible
  • Accurate drawing management
  • Utilise quoting system to quote jobs
  • Customer liaison

Skills and experience:

  • Current Drivers license
  • Understanding of metal machining and light fabrication
  • Proficient in Solid Works / AutoCAD and have a full understanding of Limits Fits & Tolerances in machines and machine components and be able to execute them in such drawings and designs
  • Prior exposure to CNC Machining programming
  • Experience in drafting and estimating is a bonus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Exceptional customer service in person, over the phone and email
  • Strong focus on Workplace Health and Safety
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
  • High self-driven work ethic and a desire to build long term working relationships
  • Strong attention to detail
