Our Client

With over 30 years of experience, our client is a leading supplier of engineering and maintenance services to rail businesses Australia wide. Their large state of the art facility housed close to Melbourne, focuses on providing design, manufacturing, refurbishment, overhaul, and repair services with an emphasis on Rolling Stock bogies, motors, wheels, gearboxes, and related componentry.


The Role

This is a rare permanent full-time opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to apply their skills and experience on a wide variety of projects that keeps Australia's rail industry moving.


The flat reporting structure means that you will be working with management, engineering, and trades to support the delivery of various solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design with a focus on interfacing, housing, transportation, and installation equipment (e.g. connectors, sleeves, racks, jigs).
  • Design and reverse engineering individual worn components within older equipment that are missing design drawings or key information.
  • Process and procedure development and optimisation.
  • Investigate, review, and report on failures.
  • Interface with management, engineering, and trades to support the above tasks.

Key Requirements

  • Engineering Degree that satisfies the entry requirements into the Institution of Engineers Australia as a Professional Engineer (Member or Chartered).
  • Full Australian working rights.
  • Good written and spoken English language skills.
  • Experience in designing and reverse engineering components and equipment.
  • Experience and understanding of Rolling Stock and/or rotary equipment (e.g. motors, gearboxes, axels, wheels) would be beneficial but is not a mandatory requirement.
