Red 5 Limited are currently seeking a Mine Planning Engineer to join our team at Darlot Gold Mine. Reporting to the Underground Manager, you will facilitate the safe and optimal extraction of gold from underground mining operations. In compliance with site Environmental and Safety Standards, you will be responsible for all mining aspects including delivering detailed plans and designs required to meet short, medium and long term mine plan. You will also be expected to train and mentor Graduate Engineers/Drill and Blast engineers.

You will be someone who takes pride in producing high quality work and ownership of their remit. Applicants should be solutions focused and be able to communicate confidently and clearly across all levels.

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of Red 5 and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times
  • Complete stope and level area designs and analysis for fresh and remnant areas
  • Complete the 13 week schedules
  • Assist with the development of the LOM
  • Ensure effective communication of work and issues/conditions status takes place with cross swing prior to departure from site
  • Actively identifying risks and threats to safely achieving targets and develop, establish and manage programs to ensure risk elimination/minimisation
  • Identification of issues that may affect safe and efficient production through frequent communication in an appropriate manner
  • Undertake additional / alternative responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Underground Manager

Key factors to your success include;

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
  • Completion of underground practical time to obtain a First Class Mine Manager’s / Shift Boss ticket
  • 3 years underground engineering experience, with a minimum 2 years completing drill and blast designs
  • Experience using Deswik CAD/Scheduler is essential
