SAP’s global delivery practice for Financial Services has the most senior and experienced industry and solution experts. We are working with our clients and eco-system partners to implement SAP solutions quickly and correctly. Our team act as advisors and we focus particularly on creating quantifiable sustainable and sustainable success for our clients. This includes advice for on-premise implementation of our software but more and more also advise for implementation of our software in a hybrid or public cloud architecture.

Key Areas of Responsibility and Tasks

The Principal Enterprise Architect Banking will engage with and act as trusted advisor for senior level of clients. He/She will also provide guidance to SAP internal teams and partner ecosystem teams.

A key part of the role involves working with our clients’ CTO, IT strategy/architecture teams and senior business teams. The ideal candidate will understand the market trends, best practice process models for the industry and has a holistic view on planning and creating the appropriate architectures (Business, Process, Data, Application/Platform and Infrastructure) to support the clients business and target operating model.

The enterprise architect has a good overview about new solutions and the roadmap of SAP solutions/infrastructures – a strong network into SAP core development is key. This helps to demonstrate to the customer how to integrate new solutions into existing landscapes. Furthermore, knowledge in the area of hybrid landscapes (e.g. cloud/on premise) is important.

Advisory / Delivery

  • Act as a trusted advisor for strategic customers
  • Develop enterprise-wide roadmaps (linking client strategy with SAP product portfolio)
  • Design large-scale transformations; program mgmt.
  • Have a strong network into SAP
  • Independent execution of complex initiatives or deliverables
    • Different areas of roles involved
    • Demonstrating active leadership
  • Manage complex stakeholder relationships
    • Manage diverse teams and expectations
    • Manage Run Simple initiatives

Sales

  • Support & Drive business development and license & services sales in alignment with SAP Service Strategy

Thought Leadership / Innovation

  • Contribute as an expert to technology or business communities and practices (especially related to Enterprise Architecture and Cloud Transformation)
  • Drive Knowledge Management and Innovation activities
  • Act as a Mentor for less experienced colleagues

Leadership

  • Act as a Coach and role model for more junior colleagues
  • Leads customer executives (indirect leadership) during project execution as well as in Sales cycles (consultative selling)

Experience & Language Requirements

The ideal candidate has multiyear experience in the financial services sector and has been specializing in IT Strategy and Architecture Definition, ideally for banks.

He/She has worked a number of years for

  • one of the Top 5 consulting companies focusing on Banking implementations and Advisory
  • one of the top financial services companies in a lead role for IT Strategy and Architecture.
  • one of the key platform companies (Hyperscalers or major software players) in a CTO capacity

Functional Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years consulting and/or FSI industry experience
  • Minimum of 6 years implementation experience in SAP Banking applications
  • Has experience with a minimum of three to four full cycle implementations
  • Good understanding of banking industry specific business processes
  • Deep understanding in at least two areas of Banking (Retail, Corporate, Wealth, Markets, Payments, Digital Ecosystem, Finance/Risk, Analytics etc.)
  • Has worked in agile project environments

Technical Experience

  • Good basic understanding of SAP technologies
  • Experience in working with Cloud infrastructure providers and Cloud migration
  • Experience in data modelling and data architectures
  • (Ideally) Good understanding of SAP S/4Hana
  • (Optional) Understanding and Hands-On experience with visualization dashboards and frameworks
  • (Optional) Understanding and Hands-On experience with Fiori implementation frameworks
  • (Optional) ABAP capabilities

Solution Experience

  • Ideal candidate should have a combination of SAP solution skills and at a minimum have good working knowledge and proven experience in 3 areas out of the following portfolio of applications
    • FE-PE (Payment Engine)
    • FS-DM (Deposit Management )
    • FS-LM (Loans Management)
    • CML (Corporate / Mortgage Loans)
    • CRM for FSI
    • Business Partner / Master Contract Management
    • ERP / S4Hana Finance for FSI
    • Fiori
    • S4Banking / C4Banking
    • SAP Bankanalyzer / FPSL / PaPM

Managerial Experience

  • Has had responsibility from time to time as a sub project leader
  • Acts as a coach for colleagues
  • Has worked directly with C-Level of clients
