JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager Track & Civil Engineering to join Queensland Rail on a permanent basis. Leading multi-discipline teams, the Senior Manager drives the delivery of value-focused Track, Structures and Rail based Plant designs, verification and validation services, commissionings, and engineering advice and support. In addition the role also drives the delivery of value-focused Track Recording services across the network.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating as a member of the Asset Management senior leadership team to provide leadership of key operational issues that assist Network achieve business targets, objectives, performance measures, safety responsibilities and continually seek to implement business performance improvement initiatives.
  • Managing the delivery of Civil and Plant Engineering services for Queensland Rail ensuring outcomes are achieved on-time and in budget.
  • Leading the delivery of track recording services that measure track and traction overhead parameters to identify where tolerances are exceeded, and allow maintenance interventions to be proactively targeted to optimise costs and network performance.
  • Managing the prioritisation, planning, resourcing and execution of activities dealing with conflicting priorities and a dynamic work environment.
  • Providing engineering expertise in the development of project scope, delivery methodologies and estimates for both operational and capital projects.
  • Providing second line engineering support and advice to support the achievement of network reliability, availability and efficiency business targets.
  • Maintaining the processes required for value-focused engineering activities associated with design, verification, construction validation and commissioning of rail infrastructure works.
  • Investigating opportunities through effective asset management and new technologies to reduce costs, improve asset utilisation and lifespan and optimise service delivery.
  • Managing the sustainable development of engineering capability, including professional and technical competency, to ensure there is effective succession and workforce planning.

  • With 7 direct reports and approximately 50 indirect reports, the Senior Manager Track & Civil Engineering will demonstrate a high level of skill in providing leadership and direction in delivering engineering services and programs within a complex commercial, safety and customer oriented environment.
