JOB DESCRIPTION

About VGW

We are pioneers in online gaming, with talented people and innovative, patented technology. We own and operate several market-leading brands in the largest markets in the world and have about 600 team members globally, all committed to building something amazing, pushing our boundaries and having fun in the process. We've been disrupting online social casino and poker gaming since 2010 and bringing fun and excitement to millions of customers. At VGW, we have a modern approach to getting work done and a focus on creating an environment where amazing people can do amazing work. That means giving you the flexibility you need, providing spaces that will keep you comfortable and finding opportunities for you to keep learning and growing.

About The Role

We're looking for Junior Engineers to join our Chumba Casino team and help us build games our customers will love. We focus on working collaboratively, delighting our customers and challenging ourselves. With our continued growth comes plenty of opportunities for you to learn and grow. We'll support you with training budgets, mentorship from some exceptional senior developers and the ability to step up and do more.

In terms of our tech stack, we're hosted on AWS (mostly ECS, some EKS) in Docker. On the containers, we use Java and Node servers. On the client-side, it's React and TypeScript. Our database is postgresSQL. Whilst experience with those technologies would be great, we're looking for strong problem solving skills and the technical aptitude to pick up new concepts quickly, so don't worry if you've been working with something slightly different!

About You

We're are looking for Junior Software Engineers with some previous experience and a real passion for their craft. You must have worked in collaborative technical teams before and be comfortable learning independently. You'll be able to demonstrate coding best practices (writing clean, well structured code, with automated tests and good source control management).

If you've got experience with, or an interest, in the following, we'd love to hear from you:

  • Implementing and using event-driven architectures
  • Cloud development (particularly AWS)
  • Containerisation (Docker and/or Kubernetes would be great)
  • OO and Functional programming paradigms
  • Performance tuning
