About the role:
Based in Townsville - Northern District extends from Cardwell Range in the North to 50km south of Lake Buchanan and from Townsville in the east to the west of Charters Towers.

In the role of Engineer (Civil), with supervision and guidance from senior engineering staff, you will work within a project team to delivery road infrastructure project through the administration of contract and support to the design, construction and maintenance processes. In doing this you will ensure effective coordination of key operational activities and resources associated with project management and process development.

Accountabilities include:

  • Administer Road Construction Contracts to ensure compliance and successful delivery to Transport & Main Roads specifications
  • Identify possible problem areas and negotiate modifications or adaptations to the design briefs where necessary to achieve acceptance.
  • Calculate quantities of component materials, analyse test results for materials, identify non-conformances, determine the controls needed during construction, and conduct and manage risk assessment.
  • Provide support and advice on the planning and design process, to ensure delivery of project outcomes, value for money and best practice are achieved;
  • Ensure all quality management procedures are adhered to; and
  • Maintain effective liaison and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
This role reports to the Principal Engineer (Civil) and the Construction Verifier

Mandatory requirements:
  • A Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent Civil Engineering qualification which is accepted by Engineers Australia
  • Current holder of a Class C driver's licence.
Desirable requirements:
  • Knowledge of TMR's technical specifications and contract procedures (or similar) would be highly regarded.
