About the opportunity:

Nova Systems is a leading Australian owned Engineering and Project Management Consultancy Servicing Defence industry, and our Commercial clients. Our Aerospace and Surveillance operations to date have delivered Engineering support across a number of Fixed Wing Defence projects, including but not limited to;

  • AIR7000 Maritime Patrol Aircraft Replacement, including P-8 and Triton;
  • AIR7003 MQ-9 Reaper variant;
  • AIR5077 E-7 Wedgetail;
  • AIR8000 C-27J Spartan battlefield airlifter;
  • AIR5428 Pilot Training Systems;
  • KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport.

We have immediate employment opportunities for an Aerospace Engineer to join our Canberra operations team supporting Defence clients in the Aerospace domain.

What will you be involved in:

As an aerospace engineering employed within Nova you could be involved in engineering roles in any of the following areas;

  • Systems and/or process design and design review;
  • Systems safety assessment and risk analysis;
  • Test and Evaluation/Verification and Validation;
  • Trial planning, executing, and reporting;
  • Requirements and configuration management.

Your experience could span one or more of the following areas:

  • Systems Engineering;
  • Airworthiness and Certification;
  • Test and Evaluation / V&V;
  • Electronic Warfare;
  • Cyber Security;
  • Project Management and Control;
  • Acquisition and Sustainment organisations;
  • Personnel Management.

What we would like from you:

  • Ideally a minimum of 8 years of experience in a Defence Aerospace environment;
  • Previous experience working in the CASG or SPO environments (highly regarded);
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, or related field with demonstrated experience of this being applied within the aerospace industry;
  • Within the scope of your specialisation, you are able to confidently participate in stakeholder engagement with a view to influencing organisations, customers and peers;
  • You have been responsible for the supervision and outcomes of small technical teams;
  • Experience in aviation engineering and can work under broad direction to meet allocated objectives and milestones;
  • Exposure to, review of or input to the development of technical airworthiness documentation;
  • Understanding of and experience in the management of sustainment engineering and asset management systems;
  • Experience in implementing DASA requirements for aerospace platforms
  • Experience or expose to any of the following will be highly regarded:
  • Exposure to Verification and Validation;
  • Experience conducting aircraft certification;
  • Experience conducting test and evaluation activities;

Essential Criteria:

  • Australian Citizen with current or recently suspended AGSVA clearance (NV2 preferred);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent client management/stakeholder engagement skills;
  • Be a team player with a can-do attitude.
