JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Brisbane or Townsville

Salary: Negotiable DOE

Term: 3-month contract

Start: Immediate

Our Client is a civil and mining contractor who deliver a diverse range of complex infrastructure projects ranging from local council works to mine projects, infrastructure builds and road upgrades.

With a reputable name within the industry and multiple project wins, they are now actively seeking a QS to strengthen their team at an important North Queensland mining project.

About the role

This is a fixed-term contract for 3 months with the possibility to extend. Based in either Brisbane or Townsville office, with adhoc travel to the project site as required (approx. 1 week per month).

Working closely with the Project Manager, you will support the project through detailed and comprehensive analysis and measurement of materials and project cost management.

  • Rates reimbursable, cost plus, and lump sum projects.
  • Software experience Primavera (P6), Microsoft Project, Expert Estimator, and Advanced Excel Skills.
  • Experienced with take-off and measure construction drawings.
  • Be able to produce bills of quantities (BoQ’s) and methods of measurement including from first principles.
  • Experience in claims preparation.
  • Experience compiling and adhering to strict budgets and financial analysis.
  • Experience with job profitability and payment claims
  • Working closely with management on the preparation of monthly forecasts
  • Support the project team in preparation of variations, progress claims, and assessment of any subcontractor claims and issuing payment certificates.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of procurement, contract management, program financial management, risk and opportunity management, performance reporting, budget preparation, and administration.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial management and legal and governance requirements of major infrastructure projects.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following skills profile.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in similar roles for Civil Construction / Mining Contracting companies in Australia.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying and/or Engineering
  • A strong safety focus with a commitment to zero harm.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • A high level of technical and negotiation skills.
