The ideal applicant will have a solid background in the field, strong leadership skills and the ability to direct the work of others and make quick decisions. The foreman must always be well-organized and strongly focused on safety above all and at all times. Personal presentation will also reflect the high-quality standards we have on all our projects.

Key Responsibilities and Performance Indicators

  • Supervision and management of the operations team and any sub-contractors in terms of safety, program, productivity and quality to meet industry and company standards.
  • Managing labour, coordinating subcontractors and working with internal team members across major residential renovations.
  • Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to supply delivery and personnel.
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the team and contractors.
  • Highly adaptable and responsive with the ability to create solutions and delegate actions.
  • Provide for adequate resources and staffing to meet safety needs, regulations, best practices, laws and project schedule.
  • Emphasis on the safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment including training on safety gear, helmets, and procedures.
  • Develop and oversee quality standards on all sites.
  • Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on-site quickly and amicably.
  • Report project status & updates to Project Manager/ Director regularly.
  • Being a key leader in the team, supporting the Director & Project Manager as and when required.
  • Frequent Communication with key stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Quality Inspections at each stage.
  • Communications with your Project Manager of any needs or discrepancies that may arise during construction.
  • Managing all defects and handovers
  • A technical understanding of all facets of the building process.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients.

Skills & Experience

  • 5 years' experience in a similar role within construction is essential.
  • Residential building site experience
  • Structural knowledge essential
  • Ability to solve issues onsite and think outside the box
  • SWMS, MSDS and WH&S experience
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction operations and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and construction programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly convey information to others with excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Critical-thinking, problem solving and negotiation skills to resolve queries.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a dynamic environment.
  • A high attention to detail.
  • A technical understanding of all facets of the building process.
  • Computer literacy
