About The Role:

Our Linux Engineers are the supremely talented individuals who provide Unix systems and application support to both AC3 and our diverse range of customers. More specifically, this role will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our Linux systems and application activities, which includes managing/reporting on incidents and issues that may arise. You'll work closely with our customers (external and internal), the Professional Services and the Operational Services teams, ensuring that the best value and experience is being provided to our customers.

The role has a split of around 30% project to 70% operations work, but will have the opportunity to work with some of our biggest current & prospective customers, and have the opportunity to upskill in a variety of areas.

The opportunity is a full-time position and will be able to work out of our new head office in Sydney's CBD, or remotely (Sydney candidates preferred as the team is in Sydney).

Other responsibilities this position will look after includes:

  • Managing, maintaining and improving Linux related services for the organisation and for customer systems
  • Monitoring the performance of key components, solutions and services
  • Actively detecting and acting on any related alerts as necessary
  • Assisting with the compilation of weekly and monthly reporting on managed Linux systems as required
  • Ensuring all Linux systems meet or exceed operational SLAs
  • Providing input in the design and implementation of technical solutions & services for the organisation and its customers
  • Working on any relevant project activities as required
  • Developing and improving SOPs where possible
  • Ensuring operational readiness of new customers & services through driving transition activities & providing stakeholder sign-off
  • Developing and maintaining a strong customer satisfaction focus
  • Developing a strong understanding of our customers and act as an advocate for them internally, also act as an escalation point where needed

Skills & Experience:
  • 5+ years' commercial experience with Linux administration (across multiple flavours would be ideal)
  • Previous experience working in an MSP or Systems Integrator would be highly advantageous
  • Strong experience supporting multiple customers at the same time, with an ability to build rapport with key stakeholders
  • Previous experience with automation tools (Puppet, Terraform and code repositories such as GitHub) would be highly advantageous
  • Previous experience with cloud technologies would be idea (AWS, Azure , GCP) 
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as part autonomously and as part of a wider team
  • Strong documentation skills (ie. documenting implemented solutions)
