Your Role

Our client’s growth strategy is “diversification”, in terms of both geography and services. Due to this continued growth of the national business they are seeking an experienced Water Resources Professional to expand their capability in their Queensland Water and Environment Team. As a Senior Water Resources Engineer reporting to the Director – Water & Environment you will:

  • Carry out the assessment of water related impacts - hydrologic, flooding and water quality associated with infrastructure, mining, and development projects
  • Undertake conceptual and detailed engineering design and investigations of civil and stormwater infrastructure, including, earthworks, drainage, basins dams, etc.
  • Execute the preparation and review of engineering reports, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities and cost estimates
  • Undertake project management and client management duties for projects and complete report writing and presentation needs as projects require
  • Have an ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information to clients in a simplified manner
  • Develop relationships with potential clients and improve and maintain existing client relationships
  • Support and/or lead business development activities, including client liaison and proposal preparation
  • Provide input into business planning and strategy

Required Skills & Experience

  • A degree in civil / environmental engineering or relevant sciences
  • A minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience (previous consultancy experience is highly desirable)
  • Good technical knowledge while delivering pragmatic and practical outcomes
  • Proven project delivery capability across stormwater and flooding
  • High level of proficiency using industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software packages including TUFLOW and WBNM/RORB/RAFTS (MUSIC would be advantageous but not necessary)
  • Experience using ArcGIS/MapInfo/QGIS (12D and CAD software would be advantageous but not necessary)
  • Demonstrated report writing and verbal communication skills with the self-confidence to express technical arguments
  • Good client communication skills with an ability to talk about technical aspects to a non-technical audience
  • High level industry awareness and engagement
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (CPEng and/or RPEQ) – or be working towards
  • A strong desire to expand on their existing skills and advance their career
