Mission of Sundale Ltd

Sundale, as a ‘not for profit’ organisation, exists to provide accommodation, care and related services to the communities in which we are an active participant.

Purpose of position

The overall purpose of the Systems Engineer – SOE is to provide expert-level design, build and configuration for Sundale endpoint environments, supporting our Modern Workplace/Office 365 initiatives.

Key tasks include the creation of a new SOE, application packaging and application deployment; configuration of SCCM to support SOE deployment and security patch installation on endpoints and servers; installation and configuration of operating systems, application software, databases, and system management tools; manage and monitor installed systems and infrastructure; actively participate in problem resolution, clean-up tasks and action reviews, and provide mentoring for others in the team.

The Systems Engineer - SOE will work in accordance with the values of Sundale and support core business by providing service, guidance and advice within this position’s specialty area whilst complying with government regulations and organisational standards.

Key accountabilities

Specific responsibilities

  • Design, implement and manage infrastructure to ensure reliability, security, and to optimise the end user experience across multiple sites, devices, and systems.
  • Provide technical advice into technical options and strategies, infrastructure frameworks, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for others, resolving escalated requests, engaging with end users, and providing advice and feedback to others in the team.

Service Delivery

  • Clearly understand, clarify, and prioritise the customers’ requirements, expectations, and any other key information; provide excellent customer service and manage expectations.
  • Regularly review priorities and seek direction and feedback where applicable so that goals are achieved.
  • Apply an ongoing focus to continuous improvement. Look for opportunities to improve business processes with automation or manual solutions.
  • Leverage ITIL processes to maintain and enhance standard workflows and processes in service delivery.
  • Actively promote and support the effective and efficient business use of IT systems.

Technical Support

  • Provide 3rd level technical support and act as an escalation point for technical issues.
  • Independently research, analyse, recommend, and implement options to resolve issues and problems using professional judgment.
  • Execute and follow change management processes, through a process of analysis, planning, development, documentation, implementation, testing and rollback, including the evaluation of risks.
  • Maintain technical skills and business knowledge via personal research and business training in order to support new and changing technologies or business practices aligned to industry best practice.

Quality improvement, teamwork, and development

  • Achieve and maintain excellent interpersonal relations with internal and external stakeholders, support team objectives and a solution-focused approach.
  • Work within and promote the organisation’s workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Other Duties and Requirements

  • Maintain confidentiality, including but not limited to information relating to consumers, clients and employees of Sundale and do not disclose information during or after employment.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and effectively deliver timely, accurate and high-quality work for multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability and experience in identifying and analysing problems, developing, and implementing remedial strategies and exercising initiative and responsibility.
  • Proven experience and high-level skill in building successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders in a complex and changing environment.
  • Experience in preparing, monitoring, and reporting on program / project budgets and understanding of the pressures and constraints impacting on delivery.
  • Undertake work practices in a safe manner and comply with work health and safety instructions, within relevant policies and procedures.
  • Undergo relevant evaluations and assessments, as requested by Sundale, to ensure that the physical and functional requirements of the role can be met.
  • Willingness to work extended and varied hours in a range of work locations depending on the daily requirements of the role.
