Survey Services

The Survey Services Team within the Asset Management Department plays a key role in the planning and design of Council’s 800,000 + assets including roads, stormwater, kerb & channel, parks, buildings, bridges and seawalls. Council’s capital works program is in excess of $250 million per annum which includes renewal of its existing $6.8 billion asset base. The Survey Services Team is focused on integrating with all areas of Council and providing quality services within the organisation and to the community.

About the Opportunity:
As our Survey Assistant, you will have an opportunity to further your experience and knowledge whilst you support other surveyors and technicians within our department. You will be contributing to a positive team environment, working to achieve a high performance and a customer focused culture.

In addition, you’ll:
perform basic engineering and cadastral surveying activities under the guidance and direction of surveyors and technicians
operate specialised GPS / GNSS surveying instruments to determine accurate data capture
clean and maintain survey equipment, vehicles and survey tools
perform basic interpretation and analysis of survey data, by means of basic data calculations.
undertake survey related administration duties as directed by surveyors and technicians including but not limited to ordering and maintenance of survey consumables stocks.

About you:
We are seeking someone with experience in a similar role including a level of mathematical proficiency and the ability to undertake basic data calculations. You will hold a General Induction Licence (White Card) and a Current C class driver’s licence.

You will have;

the ability to work in the field operating equipment in a safe manner under the guidance of surveyors and technicians
a positive attitude with the ability to follow instruction and complete tasks allocated to you
strong time management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
the ability to contribute positively to your team and have a customer service focused approach to your tasks
well developed interpersonal skills both written and verbal


This role with Council offers excellent working conditions, generous employer funded superannuation benefits (up to 12%) and a 9 day fortnight in addition to four weeks paid annual leave per year.

Council’s office locations have local parking on-site and are in close proximity to public transport networks.

Work Location

Please note that whilst the current work location for this position is specified above, staff may be required to transfer to any of council's work locations with notice. Council currently has administration offices located at Caboolture, Strathpine and Redcliffe as well as depots, libraries and a range of other facilities located throughout the region.
