Suburban Rail Loop is a city and state-shaping project that will transform Victoria’s public transport system, connecting Melbourne’s suburbs and creating opportunities in great places. The 90-kilometre Suburban Rail Loop will link every major rail line from the Frankston line to the Werribee line, via the airport, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. The project will trigger investment and renewal in the neighbourhoods associated with new stations. It will be constructed in stages across several decades, with Stage One (Cheltenham to Box Hill) delivering twin 27 km tunnels. About the opportunity
The Principal Engineer, Systems Architecture is a senior systems engineering role that provides technical leadership; to ensure the effective integration of the SRL system and define, implement & maintain appropriately tooled processes to develop the SRL system architecture.
The role supports the identification of SRL system capability, functionality and critical interfaces as the program evolves through reference design and tender evaluations.
The Principal Engineer– Systems Architecture will work with transport subject matter experts, public transport operators, specialist design areas within SRLA and externally interfacing organisations (e.g. DoT) to gather, sort and manage information relating to the SRL architecture and its multiple configurations.
The Principal Engineer – Systems Architecture is expected to have innovative ways to represent key information to decision makers; to manage the risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and opportunities that relate to the SRL system especially across the interfaces; so that all stakeholders have a clear and up to date picture of how infrastructure changes will be staged to meet the project's objectives.
