About the Project

McConnell Dowell is the constructor within the Western Program Alliance (WPA) which forms part of the Victorian State government's ambitious level crossing removal program. The Alliance brings together the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), and Arup and Mott MacDonald as design partners.

WPA was formed in 2017 and following the successful completion of several major projects, is now focused on delivering the level crossing removals at Werribee (Werribee Street & Cherry Street), Hoppers Crossing (Old Geelong Road) and Cranbourne (the Cranbourne Line Upgrade), as well as developing future works projects.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications from enthusiastic and qualified Site Engineers to join teams across the project. We are interested in hearing from civil and structural construction engineers eager to contribute to the effective coordination and control of engineering works for the specific project.

As Site Engineer, you will be accountable for:



  • Performing technical, engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, survey, procurement and quality control functions for all activities at site

  • Implementing the inspection and test requirements of the project execution plan

  • Interpreting engineering documents and drawings for field personnel

  • Verifying subcontractors' claims and variations

  • Participating in bid evaluation of field subcontracts

  • Providing general technical assistance to supervisory staff

Requirements for this role are:



  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering (post graduate qualifications are an advantage)

  • Prior post graduate experience in a construction / engineering environment

  • Proven forecasting and budget management, EOM process and cost tracking skills

  • Competent in planning and organising work schedules

  • Working knowledge of HSE requirements and implementation of same

  • Sound verbal and written communication skills
