JOB DESCRIPTION

Present Group is an Electrical Engineering Services Provider delivering High Voltage testing, commissioning, operations and maintenance and engineering services to our clients in the Mining, Oil & Gas, Utilities, Renewable Energy and Defence sectors across Australia and SE Asia.

We have an immediate requirement for an Electrical Power Engineer or Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our Brisbane Morningside office.


Technical responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Power System Analysis Studies including
  • Protection Coordination
  • Load Flow
  • Short Circuit
  • Harmonic
  • Motor Starting
  • Transient Stability
  • Arc Flash
  • Lightning Protection and Insulation Coordination
  • Earthing Design
  • Relay configuration and protection setting calculations
  • Protection and metering scheme design and upgrades
  • Scope of work and project framing
  • Power system modelling.
  • QA/QC Documentation
  • Technical / Economic Feasibility studies.
  • Lifecycle / Reliability engineering support for maintenance contracts.
  • RCA, RCFA engineering analysis.
  • FEED and detailed design
  • Technical support for estimating and RFT development.
  • Support Business Development team in technical discussions


Experience, skills and qualifications:


  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Power Engineering essential.
  • Sound understanding of protection system design
  • Experience in the functional electrical design areas of substations control, automation, protection and communications.
  • Working knowledge of appropriate Australian and International Standards and Codes of Practice relevant to the design and testing of a substation's control, metering and power distribution systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures applicable to the preparation of designs and technical specifications.
  • Ability to complete, review and approve project designs with external consultants/clients.
  • Lead assigned projects to meet project requirements, timeframes and budgets.
  • Ability to develop detailed, professional and accurate technical reports.
  • Proficiency with DigSilent, ETAP and SKM modelling software essential
  • Working knowledge of design quality assurance processes to meet ISO 9001:2008.
  • Experienced with IEC61850 standards and HV SCADA advantageous.
  • Theoretical knowledge of Partial Discharge testing viewed favourably.
  • Experienced with generating design scopes and estimating.
  • Ability to consult / liaise with clients / stakeholders at all levels and build sustainable relationships
