ILS Engineer - Defence Contractor

Your new company

This rare opening will provide an unrivalled opportunity to enhance and expand your already well-established ILS experience . Your new role As Senior ILS Engineer, you will be responsible for a team of ILS engineers, analysts and tech writers to define, develop and deliver ILS services to organisation programmes. Being the primary point of contact for customers, you will have the ability to develop, plan, design and participate in design reviews, analysis and qualification testing. Ensuring deliverables meet project requirements, you will draw on your experience of ILS methodologies, Reliability, Availability and Maintainability RAM understanding to provide advice and documentation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify, forecast and plan the appropriate ILS activities.
  • Identify, analyse and anticipate risks against work performed and establish the risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage and plan work schedules and expenditure for the team.
  • Review project and contractor design and documentation to ensure all logistics considerations are addressed.
  • Perform RAM modelling and calculations.
  • Conduct ILS planning and BOE for various projects and bids.
  • Manage, update, and create ILS documentation, including plans, technical data/documentation plans, reports, technical data lists, ILS instructions, transition plans and procedures. Ensuring the integration of ILS methodologies with internal processes.


What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for the position you will have;
  • Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Statistical or Operational Analysis Diploma or Degree or Equivalent Experience.
  • Ability to obtain Defence security clearance to Negative Vetting level 1 and ITAR clearances.
  • Ideally three+ years’ experience in conducting and managing ILS tasks for major Defence and civil projects. Including knowledge of military engineering standards and procedures.
  • Practical understanding of ILS/LSA standards.
  • Ability to perform RAM, LCC, LSA and sparing analysis for complex systems.
  • Leadership of technical teams.
  • A cert IV in front line management would be highly regarded.
