As a technical expert in engineering and operations, you will provide strategic direction and tactical guidance on all operational matters within the portfolio. You will influence continuous improvement of regional engineering operations across the portfolio, development of tools for site teams and resources for consistent optimization, while supporting cost effective solutions, operational KPIs and customer comfort. Collaborating and working with colleagues you will be part of a team that leads innovation, efficiencies, and operational excellence across the portfolio.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for

Product Innovation and Optimization

  • Support strategic initiatives where there will/should be meaningful impact to operational excellence
  • Act as primary liaison with local utilities, identifying saving and ROI opportunities
  • Support site teams with technical guidance and programming recommendations
  • Liaising with our corporate Platform Services to provide input to regional initiatives and corporate programs
  • Collecting and analyzing data to improve performance and customer outcomes, and to support advancement of optimization opportunities
  • Identify opportunities with 3rd party contractors to deepen relationship to support economies of scale and optimum service delivery
  • Research new technical innovations from within and outside of real estate, and advance leading-edge programs that align with business priorities
  • Establish protocol(s) to maintain consistent and on-going data acquisition / reporting for industry designations

Capital Projects and Construction

  • Provide technical leadership and management for the review, bidding and successful completion of engineering & operational related capital projects or other cost reduction initiatives
  • In partnership with the Construction & Design team, act as a resource to site teams to ensure correct protocols and Oxford standards are met including tendering and RFP processes
  • Actively support sales and property management teams, as needed

Compliance and Administration

  • Responsible for developing and executing formal program(s) to ensure all properties comply with building/operational regulatory requirements
  • Assist investment team with due diligence, IE physical property assessment / review of existing documentation, analyze final reports and make recommendations
  • Identify and drive streamlining of permitting and access of 3rd party partners

To succeed in this role, you

  • Have a minimum of 7 years of operational experience in a high-rise office commercial real estate
  • 5 + years of experience managing engineering staff. This includes strong employee relation skills, leadership skills, coaching skills and training skills.
  • Have Power Engineering certification and/or possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in building science, mechanical or electrical engineering.

    Additional LEED AP, Energy Management certification (CEM), Facility or Systems training such as FMA, SMA via BOMA would be an asset.
  • Are an expert in electrical and mechanical systems including HVAC and life safety systems, energy auditing, mechanical, electrical, building sciences, construction processes and business administration.
  • Have experience managing projects from end to end.
  • Possess superior analytical skills with the ability to analyze large volumes of data, find trends, and make recommendations on strategic and tactical direction on operational matters without compromising customer comfort.
  • Have experience with the RFP process.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of customer service/service excellence trends.
  • Outstanding troubleshooting and analytical thinking to resolve issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills able to build relationships and collaborating at all levels, with proven negotiations skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
