  • Grade – Manager Business Unit, Salary ($122,657), plus superannuation and annual leave loading 

About us:

The Department of Justice delivers legal, court and supervision services to the people of NSW by managing courts and justice services, implementing programs to reduce crime and re offending, managing custodial and community-based correctional services, protecting rights and community standards and advising on law reform and legal matters.
 

Corrective Services NSW employs trade Overseers, Senior Overseers and Managers in Corrective Services Industries (CSI) providing inmates in correctional centres with vocational training in service and commercial industries to improve their employment opportunities when they are released from custody. Employment is a proven factor in reducing the risk of re-offending.

About the role:

We are looking for a Manager Business Unit in the Upper Hunter region in the picturesque laid back town of Muswellbrook, well known for being a relaxing town with reputable schools, family life and a thriving community. The role is based at the St Heliers Correctional Centre.

The Manager Business Unit is responsible for:

  • Daily operations and organisation of work related activities including the supervision of staff, and supervision, mentoring and skills development of inmates you will review and develop commercial viability of CSI Business Units. 
  • Providing business development and strategic advice for business improvement for alternative business strategies for optimising CSI industry/inmate employment.
  • Maximising productivity, ensuring that commercial objectives are achieved and that Quality Management, Work Health and Safety requirements, correctional centre key performance measures and customer needs are met.
  • Building and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, source local business opportunities and promote awareness of CSI capability and contribute to business growth.

About you:

We are looking for an energetic and motivated Manager Business Unit to maintain and manage a modular building construction fit-out program at our CSI facility located 10 kilometres from Muswellbrook NSW.

Essential Requirements:

  • Satisfy NSW Correctional Officer entry requirements
  • Demonstrate relevant management experience in any of these following sectors; building and construction, modular building construction, construction project management, commercial fit-out projects, or a related service based industry
  • Possess relevant trade and tertiary qualifications in a Building and Construction, or Construction Management, or a related service based industry
  • Proven experience in Quality Management and Business Management Software e.g. Pronto ERP
  • Hold a current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle in the course of performing the role
  • Hold a current First Aid qualification for be willing to obtain prior to taking up an offer of employment
  • Have or be willing to obtain qualifications in Workplace Training & Assessment as requested by Corrective Services NSW
