An exciting opportunity has become available for a Principal Engineer (Civil) to join the Delivery & Operations team, Far North District, based in Cairns. This is a temporary role from 19 July 2021 until 15 July 2022, with possible extension.

As the Principal Engineer (Civil) you will have the opportunity to manage the delivery of roads infrastructure projects and provide technical expertise and advice to other professional and technical staff to ensure delivery of projects within time, quality, cost and stakeholder expectations.

We are seeking a skilled civil engineer with demonstrated experience in program/project management and managing or supervising a team of project managers and engineers. 

Working in one of the most unique locations in Australia, this role offers the opportunity to deliver a diverse range of projects in urban and rural/remote environments. You will also provide leadership and mentoring to support the growth and development of graduate engineers within the district.

Applications for this role may be used to appoint to similar temporary vacancies within Far North District for a specified period up to 12 months after the closing date of the initial vacancy.

Mandatory requirements:

• A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks

• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position

• Current holder of a Class C driver licence
