Process Engineer
Work Location: Eliwana
Roster: 4D:3R – FIFO ex Perth
Eliwana is Fortescue’s US$1.275 billion development, including 143km of rail and a 30mtpa dry OPF. The mine will build on Fortescue’s development and construction capability, using the latest technology, autonomous trucks and design efficiency.
Fortescue is looking for an energetic, forward thinking Process Engineer to join the team at the new Eliwana Ore Processing Facility. This is an exciting new role with initial focus being on operational readiness, commissioning and through to operations. You will be responsible for setting up systems and processes for the new site and then supporting long term ore processing operations.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Demonstrate strong safety values and a willingness to be active in enhancing our team safety culture
- Responsible for the weekly and day to day planning, scheduling, reporting and coordination of plant process engineering activities to ensure maximum efficiency of the OPFs
- Accountability for undertaking diligent analysis of process deviations with a methodical Root Cause Analysis approach
- Accountability for generating and maintaining plant performance reporting systems
- Working closely with the other Eliwana OPF teams to ensure the plant remains reliable and in a state of consistent improvement
- Ensure that plant process activities are planned and managed in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner
- Managing and optimizing screen performance including the selection and installation of screen media
- The role will be responsible for managing and optimizing crusher performance along with selection of crusher liners
- Active collaboration and support both with the engineering and shutdown disciplines is key to success in the role
- Contribute to a team culture of continuous improvement aligned with Fortescue's values
Qualifications and skills required:
- Proven commitment to safety
- Demonstrated track record of problem solving and solution implementation in a multi-discipline team based environment
- A thorough understanding and high level of experience in screens and crushers Strong team member skills
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Previous process plant experience in mining
- Computer proficiency in process simulation software
- Strong understanding of both production and maintenance strategies for large scale processing plant
- Apollo Root Cause Analysis or equivalent training is preferred
- Metallurgical, Process or similar engineering qualification with five years experience in Iron Ore processing
