The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead continuous improvement, major planned upgrade projects, and ongoing projects. You will support and develop shift supervisors and leading hands to ensure continuous operation across our 3 shift - 24hr production. This position is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Braeside, Victoria.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Coordinate planning and implementation of site projects.
  • Liaise with suppliers and consultants to research, design, source and maintain equipment solutions as required.
  • Manage contractors to ensure they comply with business processes and policies.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure effective change control before, during and after project activity.
  • Raise purchase orders as required in line with business rules.
  • Analyse and report on project costs against budget.
  • Support Finance to update and maintain the site asset register.
  • Measure and analyse production data to identify and progress waste reduction and productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Lead or participate in root cause analysis exercises as required to support a continuous improvement business culture.
  • Lead or support trouble-shooting activities as required to assist operational continuity.
  • Provide mechanical and process engineering technical support to assist site operations where possible.
  • Always demonstrate a commitment to the safety of yourself and others.

For this position it is expected that you would possess the following qualifications/work experience:

  • Tertiary qualified in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Proven track record in holding full accountability of plant maintenance, engineering projects and related budgets within the food industry 5+ years exp.
  • Proven experience working in a production role, ideally with Infant Formula experience
  • Key strengths across leadership, influencing, continuous improvement and communication
  • Hands-on leadership style, is comfortable coaching and mentoring leaders, possesses excellent stakeholder management, communication, and reporting skills
  • Ability to deal with multiple projects and can thrive in a world of change
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage their own workload
  • Drive for continuous improvement
  • Strong commitment to driving safety within the team
  • Operating and troubleshooting various food manufacturing equipment
  • HACCP trained with previous experience in an accredited food manufacturing environment would be an advantage
  • Clear understanding of WHS policies and compliance requirements
  • Experienced in the development and utilisation of MEX systems
  • Experienced in Lean Manufacturing systems and their ongoing development
