JBS Australia’s pork-processing facility is located in Port Wakefield, South Australia. All pigs are sourced from APIQ-accredited farms and is 100% bred, grown and finished in Australia with industry best-practice animal welfare standards. The brand, Seven Point Australian Pork, was developed specifically to meet the needs of an increasing desire from consumers for ‘locally made’ and ‘Australian made’ product.

About the Role:
We currently have a vacancy for a WHS Officer to join our dynamic team based in our Port Wakefield Plant.

The WHS Officer will contribute to the development of a culture that promotes the wellbeing & Safety of all staff through appropriate WHS.

Responsibilities:
Conduct & follow-through investigations for Injuries, Near Misses or Hazards
Ensure WHS Committee meetings are held and attended by nominated personal including management
Drive initiatives and actions from the meetings
Ensure compliance with the JBS Health and Safety Management System
Review any updates to Standards, Codes of Practice, WHS Act and WHS Regulations to ensure site is compliant
Participate in internal, external and Stakeholder Audits ensuring site maintains compliance and implement any changes
Promote safety culture and awareness
Complete Risk Assessments for all plant and machinery on site
Complete Standard Operating Procedures for all process, plant and machinery on site
Ensure Risk Assessments & Standard Operating Procedures are regularly reviewed for accuracy
Update Risk Assessments & Standard Operating Procedures following changes in Legislation, Standards, Copes of Practice, change of plant and machinery or process
Generate and maintain reports

Criteria:
Certificate IV in WHS minimum
Experience in basic WHS function (i.e. incident investigations & risk assessments)
Previous experience overseeing Confined Space breathing apparatus and fire prevention programs
Possess a current senior first aid certificate
Demonstrated computer literacy in MS Office
Ability to communicate at all levels and impart knowledge through training
Proven initiative, solid problem solving skills and ability to work autonomously and part of a team
