The opportunity


This career defining position will appeal to an experienced Mechanical Engineer with inspirational leadership skills to lead our world-class engineering team, based in Balcatta.


Reporting directly to the Global Director of Mechanical Engineering in California, you will mentor and guide the team to provide best-in-class devices in terms of cost, performance, and quality. You will drive a high-performance culture delivering exceptional level engagement and outstanding career development opportunities for your team.


This key opportunity will be tasked with coaching the team on methods and technologies appropriate for new product development and providing clear direction and focus. Managing the allocation of resources and planning of product development and improvement projects to follow Stage Gate and Engineering Change processes are key requirements of the role.


Additional responsibilities include:


  • Provide leadership in development of new product concepts and product improvements
  • Managing product development using Stage Gate process
  • Driving product development and process improvement and execution
  • Building, maintaining and coaching a high performing team

Your experience with allocating resources to projects to meet tight delivery requirements and managing the planning of product development and improvement projects to follow Stage Gate process is essential. Your passion for driving technical competence and experience in delivering mechanical devices that meet the requirements for all stakeholders will set you up for career success.

Additional requirements include:


  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering
  • Experience in managing CAD file management systems (Solidworks PDM)
  • Previous experience generating product requirements through business unit collaboration
  • Ability to clear pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screen and national police clearance requirements
