About The Opportunity
Your role as a Labourer - Civil Works is to be part of a multi-disciplined team that is capable of performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and construction activities in line with Work, Health, and Safety requirements, within the Civil Works section.

This manual labouring role involves (but is not limited to) working with mobile plant, underground utilities, bridges, major culverts and roads. In addition to this, you will also be involved in placing and finishing concrete, preparing road surfaces for asphalt and bitumen seals, placing asphalt and bitumen seal, repairing road defects, setting up simple formwork and steel fixing, installation of road and bridge furniture, as well as the set out and line marking of road infrastructure.

About You

  • You hold an unrestricted Class `C’ Drivers Licence.
  • Possession of a Construction Industry General Safety Induction Card.
  • Ability to complete the “Working in Proximity to Traffic” course prior to commencement.
  • Demonstrated physical fitness and capability to undertake manual labouring work.
  • Demonstrated experience in Roads, Drainage and Bridge construction and maintenance, e.g. placing and finishing concrete, sprayed bituminous and asphalt work, timber carpentry road furniture and line marking
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally with a variety of internal and external parties
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment to ensure set outcomes are achieved.
  • Possession of a 'MR' or 'HR' Drivers Licence and/or Traffic Controller accreditation will be highly regarded.
  • Live and uphold Council values and a "can do " approach to work
